| Spring is here! |
If you're starting to see crocuses, it's probably time to take some (or all) of the mulch off the perennials.
- If you haven't started your indoor seeds yet, now is the time. Many annuals only need 4-6 weeks indoors to get a head start on the blooming season.
- Force some narcissus or other bulbs for exciting spring blooms on your windowsill.
- Now is the time for spring pruning of many shrubs, trees, and perennial vines.
- In many zones, March is the month to plant cool season crops such as lettuces and greens, sweet peas, some root vegetables, and anything that calls for early spring planting.
- Clean out your garden debris if any, and take a look at the compost heap.
- Do a little research on soil improvement, if you have any that needs improving.
- Take a walk in the neighborhood and enjoy other people's spring bulbs.
- Build a cold frame, trellis, or other garden project.
- Listen to the birds sing. They know something.
